What is psyllium?

The small seeds of Plantago Ovata are also called psyllium. They contain a natural fiber-rich layer that turns into a jelly-like substance when it comes into contact with water. Fun fact: the name ‘vlozaad’ (literally 'flea seed') comes from the seeds' visual resemblance to small fleas.

Feeding advice

The correct amount of psyllium depends on the type of horse and the purpose of the course. For ponies, it is advised to give a course of approximately 7 days every 4 weeks, with an amount of 50-150 grams per day. For adult horses, this is 100-300 grams per day.

Administration of HorseFlex Psyllium

HorseFlex Psyllium can be fed both dry and wet. When feeding wet, you can mix the product with a little water to form a paste and offer it immediately with the normal feed. Ensure that the mixture does not stand for too long, so that the properties of the psyllium are optimally preserved.
