HorseFlex Psyllium is a 100% natural supplementary feed for horses, made from whole seeds of Plantago Ovata. This plant is known for its unique properties and has been used for years to support normal digestion in horses.

What is psyllium?

The small seeds of Plantago Ovata are also called psyllium. They contain a natural fiber-rich layer that, in contact with water, changes into a gel-like substance. This property makes psyllium particularly suitable as a supplement to your horse's daily ration. Fun fact: the name ‘vlozaad’ (flea seed) comes from the visual resemblance of the seeds to small fleas.

A valuable addition to the ration

Horses that spend a lot of time in a paddock or bare pasture can unknowingly ingest soil particles such as sand during grazing or feeding. Psyllium forms a soft mass in the intestines that aids in the smooth passage of food. This can contribute to a natural cleansing of the digestive tract.

Psyllium is particularly popular as a periodic course to supplement the diet of horses that regularly stand on sandy surfaces.

Feeding advice

The correct amount of psyllium depends on the type of horse and the purpose of the course. For ponies, it is advised to give a course of approximately 7 days every 4 weeks, with an amount of 50-150 grams per day. For adult horses, this is 100-300 grams per day.

Administration of HorseFlex Psyllium

HorseFlex Psyllium can be fed both dry and wet. When feeding wet, you can mix the product with a little water to a paste and offer it immediately with the normal feed. Ensure that the mixture does not stand for too long, so that the properties of the psyllium are optimally preserved.
