This snaffle bit from Trust has a 45mm lozenge, which is designed to help the horse to mouth the bit and comfortably relax his jaw. The double joints remove the nutcracker action, as the bit stays in a curved shape, following the contours of the horse's mouth. Therefore the bar and palette pressure associated with single-jointed bits is removed.

The blue sweet iron mouthpiece oxidises easily, warming up and creating a sweet taste. This encourages the horse to salivate and gently mouth the bit, accepting and softening to the contact.

The loose rings mean that the bit is mobile within the horse's mouth, which encourages further softening and mouthing. It also allows for immediate release of tongue and bar pressure when the rein aids are relaxed, thus rewarding a correct response.
