Which Bucas rain blankets are available?

We have the largest stock of Bucas rain blankets on offer. There are various types of rain blankets in the Bucas assortment. The super-deluxe Power Turnout is the flagship among blankets, but Bucas also has a fine basic rain blanket (the Bucas Freedom rain blanket) with a great price-quality ratio. All waterproof blankets in the Bucas assortment are called Turnout blankets. The rain blankets have no (or a very light) filling. Blankets with a thicker filling are Bucas winter blankets.

Bucas Power Turnout Light

This is the flagship of Bucas rain blankets. This rain blanket has a sun-reflecting (ballistic nylon) outer shell and an antibacterial Stay-Dry lining. It is also possible to attach a separate neck cover or Bucas underblanket to this rain blanket. The blanket is available with a normal fit or with a fit for very wide horses (the Power Turnout Big Neck).

Bucas Smartex Rain

This Bucas rain blanket has a super-strong ballistic nylon outer shell and a Stay-Dry lining so your horse is always dry. The blanket can therefore also be placed on a sweaty horse. This Bucas rain blanket is also available in a Big Neck version. A Bucas neck cover and an underblanket can be attached to this blanket.

Bucas Irish Turnout

The Irish Turnout Light has a 1200D rip-stop outer shell (this is less strong than ballistic nylon) and a nylon lining (so not Stay-Dry). The rain blanket can be used at a temperature between +5 and +12 degrees Celsius. A separate neck cover and an underblanket can also be attached to this blanket.

Bucas Freedom

This Bucas rain blanket has a 600D rip-stop outer shell, making it the least strong blanket in the Bucas collection. The blanket has no shoulder darts for more freedom of movement. A neck cover and underblanket cannot be attached to this rain blanket. In short, a fine basic rain blanket.

Frequently asked questions about Bucas rain blankets

  • What makes a Bucas rain blanket special?

Bucas rain blankets are known for their strong materials such as ballistic nylon and 1200D outer fabrics. Many models feature Stay-Dry fleece linings that absorb moisture and allow it to evaporate quickly. These technical blankets are waterproof, breathable, AND durable, making them ideal for variable weather conditions.
  • What is the difference between models like Smartex Rain and Power Turnout?

    • Smartex Rain offers a robust 'all-in-one' solution: ballistic nylon outer fabric, Stay-Dry lining, and excellent wear resistance for all weather conditions.
    • Power Turnout is the top model, with an extra-strong coating, breathability, and thermal properties. Highly suitable for intensive use and varying temperatures.
  • What does 0 grams mean for a Bucas rain blanket?

0 grams indicates that a blanket has no insulating lining. This makes it ideal for use during milder periods or for horses that get warm quickly.
  • Does a Bucas blanket fit every type of horse?

Yes. Bucas offers variants such as the Big Neck model for horses with a broad chest or neck—such as Friesians—and 'regular' models for standard builds. For a correct fit, you can measure your horse from chest to tail and choose a suitable size.
  • How do you maintain a Bucas rain blanket?

Preferably use a mild wash cycle (max. 30 °C) and special cleaning agents such as Bucas Rug Wash or Rug Conditioner. Allow the blanket to dry thoroughly and repair small tears—for example, in ballistic nylon—with a repair kit to maintain its waterproofing.
