New for this season are the renewed Rhino rugs. All Rhino rugs are equipped with the innovative Vari-Layer system, this system ensures less weight and more warmth.
The unique thing about the Rhino rugs is that the fabric is made up of several layers. The outer fabric is made of a strong polypropylene material, which is stronger than the commonly used polyester. The next layer is the waterproof barrier, this waterproof barrier is always protected by the polyproylene outer, even if the outer fabric is damaged, your rug is still waterproof. Then there is a thermobonded fibre full in the rug. The 4th layer is the anti-static and anti-bacterial inner lining which keeps the coat smooth and shiny.

Rhino Unique Barrier Technology
1. TOUGH ON THE OUTSIDE The tough outer polypropylene fabric is 50-100% stronger than the coated polyester used in the majority of turnouts so the Rhino rugs are light but strong. Polypropylene has good resistance to water allowing the droplets to sit on surface rather than be absorbed into the fabric
2. WATERPROOF BARRIER IN THE MIDDLE AquaTransTM coating is applied to the barrier layer. Even if the outer fabric is damaged the waterproof barrier layer stays intact
3. COMFORT ON THE INSIDE Underneath the waterproof layer, thermobonded fibre fill traps warm air to keep your horse cosy
4. POLYESTER LINING Anti-static and anti-bacterial polyester lining keeps the coat smooth and shiny
Some of the best ideas are obvious. In a standard rug, 80% of heat loss is concentrated in 40% of the surface area. With this knowledge in mind, Horseware Ireland introduces Vari-Layer into the Horseware rug line. Vari-Layer increases fiber coverage across the horse's back and hips to decrease heat loss. The layering of fiber allows the rug to wrap closely around the horse, trapping heat with less weight in the overall rug. The effect of gravity compression on the rug fill is lessened, and the rug stays fuller longer.
Over the last number of years, hoods and neck covers have been grown in popularity as people have realised how much heat escapes from the horse's neck and shoulders. Inspired by customers who wanted additional protection for their horses, Tom MacGuinness, for the past year has been developing a new patented design for the RAMBO Turnout. The WUG incorporates a very simple, effective and user friendly front closure system. It has a scalloped front that goes half way up the horse's neck enclosing the shoulder and prevents rain from entering the front of the rug. A collar or scarf like effect around the neck reduces heat loss. By keeping the body heat in, Horseware Ireland, have developed a new innovate rug for discerning horse owners who give their horses only the best
